Megan McNeil is 19 years old and has been battling Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma, a rare type of Adrenal cancer, for the last four years.
My original goal with this song was to brighten just one patients day by listening to it...
Hopefully, now that one patient will be many.
In 2006, sports injury sustained during a high-school track and field event ultimately lead doctors to discover the cancer and start a very aggressive course of action to counter the stage four tumour they discovered in her abdomen. In total, she has beaten cancer three times so far. So far, because it has returned, this time to her arm and liver, and she is determined to beat it again.
McNeil graduated from Seaquam Secondary in 2008, and is currently attending Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey for sciences. A recent co-host of Global BC’s 23rd Annual Miracle Weekend, McNeil is considering studying broadcasting at BCIT.
McNeil wrote “The Will to Survive” as a tribute to all the other cancer-fighting children, some of whom she met in chemo wards and hospital hallways during treatment.
